D661-DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT PLANNING WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENTDescription:This course will show the clinician how an understanding of growth and development will affect every treatment decision. We will use hand-wrist films and templates to forecast growth. With this information, a clinician can determine if a case will become more or less difficult as a patient develops. Referrals to a specialist or a surgeon can then be made with a grater degree of confidence. We will then discuss alternate treatment plans for various malocclusions. Current knowledge about several important clinical dilemmas will be reviewed.
Next we will discuss rules of mechanics that are important in achieving the best possible result, and reasons for stability or lack of it in various types of cases will be covered. And finally many cases will be presented and alternative treatment plans for these cases will be discussed. OBJECTIVE: The participant should be able to:
